Commission sought to regulate nuclear, radioactive substances in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Experts have demanded that a commission be formed to regulate nuclear and radioactive substances used in the medical field and the study of plants and animals in Nepal.

Participants at an interaction organised by the Ministry of Science and Technology in Kathmandu stressed the need for a body for extracting and producing such substances.

Ministry Secretary Sarbajit Prasad Mahato informed that a bill related to this would be tabled in Parliament within three months.

Also on the occasion, Joint Secretary Ram Aadhar Sah emphasised the need to make general people aware of the impact of such substances on human health.

Likewise, legal expert Bishwo Bandhu Poudel viewed that concerned authorities should be sensitive in handling such substances because of their negative effects on human health.
