Committee formed to probe Yeti Airlines plane runway excursion

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has formed a four-member probe committee to investigate into the September 24 runway excursion involving a Yeti Airlines aircraft.

The aeroplane had overshot the runway of Gautam Buddha Airport in Bhairahawa of Rupandehi while landing. The accident had damaged the aircraft, though all passengers were safe.

The probe committee formed on Tuesday comprises former Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal Rajesh Raj Dali as Chairman, the Ministry's Under-Secretary Hari Bahadur Khadka as Member-Secretary, Executive Engineer of Goma Airlines Pvt Ltd Ramesh Kumar Singh and Senior Captain of Nepal Airlines Corporation Shrawan Rijal as members.

The panel has been mandated to find causes behind the accident and submit a report with recommendations to avoid such incidents in the future, within next 75 days.
