Biplav cadre held for anti-poll graffiti

CHITWAN: A man was arrested while painting anti-election slogans from Bharatpur in Chitwan on Friday morning.

Til Bahadur Shrestha, a cadre of Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal, was held while painting anti-election slogans on signboards hung up at the main office of Bharatpur Metropolitan City and its ward offices, said Superintendent of Police Dipak Thapa.

The slogans read 'Nepal Communist Party Jindabad, Kathit Nirbachan Bahiskar Garau (Long live 'Nepal Communist Party, boycott so-called elections), Janasatta Sthapana Garau (Let us establish people's regime)'.

Shrestha was assisted by a person with the help of a motorcycle (Na 2 Pa 1424), Thapa said.

Meanwhile, security has been tightened in the district in a bid to crackdown on any anti-poll campaign, police said.
