Complaint filed against ex-king, PM at TRC

A conflict victim from Taplejung yesterday registered a complaint against former king Gyanendra Shah and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission through local peace committee, Jhapa.

The name of the woman has not been revealed. She had received deep injuries to her thigh and knees during the Maoist insurgency. The peace committee said the woman registered the case, saying she had not received relief till date and demanded justice.

The woman reached the office of the local peace committee to file complaint against various high ranking officials, including Gyanedra Shah and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. The woman said she had registered the case against former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba as well as then ministers Khum Bahadur Khadka and Purna Bahadur Khadka, among others.

She has also filed complaints against former home minister Kamal Thapa, then Jhapa CDO Bhola Prasad Siwakoti and then Jhapa SP Kesariraj Ghimire.

Meanwhile, an interaction on disappeared people was held in the presence of Spokesperson for Truth and Reconciliation Commission Bishnu Pathak at Jhapa’s Birtamode today.

Chief of local peace committee Prabir Ghosh said his committee had received as many as 507 complaints. Of them, 28 cases were relating to people disappeared during the conflict.
