‘Consensus govt could be under my leadership’

Nepalgunj, June 7

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today said that attempts were on to form a consensus government under his leadership.

Speaking to mediapersons at Nepalgunj airport, PM Oli pointed out the need of a national consensus government. “Everyone realises there is a need of consensus government.

So talks with other political parties are on to turn the present government under my leadership into a national consensus government,” he said.

Further, he opined that consensus government was the only expedient to effectively implement the constitution.

“We drafted the constitution after a long time and it has now entered the phase of implementation.

We need collective effort of all parties, hence the need for consensus government that will facilitate statute implementation,” he reasoned, adding such a government should be in place by the next elections.

Oli said criticisms against his government were natural in a democratic polity.
