CDC submits reports, other documents to EC

Kathmandu, August 31 

The Constituency Delimitation Commission today submitted a copy of its report and other supporting documents to the Election Commission.

The CDC had submitted its report to the prime minister Yesterday carving out 165 first-past-the-post electoral districts for the House of Representatives and 330 FPTP constituencies for the provinces.

EC spokesperson Nabaraj Dhakal said that a team of CDC staffers led by member secretary Begendra Raj Sharma Poudel submitted a copy of the report and other supporting documents to Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhi Prasad Yadav.

CEC Yadav thanked the officials of the CDC team for successfully completing the constitutional tasks, according to Spokesperson Dhakal.  He handed over the report and other documents to EC Secretary Maheshwor Neupane.

“We got the CDC report, which we have been demanding since long,” said Dhakal. He said that the EC would accelerate preparations for provincial and the parliamentary elections after getting the report.

According to Dhakal, the CDC’s tenure had been completed after furnishing its report to the government and as per clause-14 of the Constituency Delimitation Act-2016, the CDC member secretary has to submit all relevant records and supporting documents to the EC.

EC commissioners Ila Sharma, Narendra Dahal, Ishwori Prasad Paudel, Sudhir Kumar Shah and Secretary Neupane were also present on the occasion.
