Constituent assembly the sole option: Dy Speaker

Birgunj, June 26 :

Deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Chitra Lekha Yadav, today said that an inclusive constituent assembly was the only way out of the nation’s crisis. Speaking at a press meet organised by the Democratic Press Union Nepal here, Yadav said peace without social justice would not sustain.

“The structure of the constituent assembly should be prepared keeping in view Dalits, Janajatis, Madhesi community and women.”

“Social justice is not possible unless problem of backwards is addressed.”

Stating that people have had to pay a huge price for bringing the Maoists into agreement status from conflict mode, Yadav warned it would be suicidal if the seven-party and Maoist pact is broken.

She expressed dissatisfaction over the snail-pace of the House of Representatives.

She opined that the recent HoR declaration to provide 33 per cent reservation to women was

not being implemented due to the narrow-mindedness of some chauvinistic male leaders.

Yadav also accused the industrialists of Bara and Parsa of being apathetic towards social development issues in the entire region.
