Constitution amendment against national interest: Pokhrel
POKHARA: CPN-UML General Secretary Ishwar Pokhrel stated that his party would vote against the Constitution amendment bill in the Parliament.
Speaking at a press meet organised by the Press Chautari Nepal Kaski Chapter, Pokhrel claimed that the amendment bill was against Nepal's national interest.
Since the bill needs two-thirds majority, Pokhrel argued, it would not be passed.
He opined that the government instead should withdraw the bill and come up with other proposals.
Pokhrel also stressed that the government should give utmost priority to the elections. All elections -- local, provincial and federal -- should be held on time, he said.
Pokhrel mentioned that the CPN-UML was holding a nationwide-campaign from March 4-18 for the Constitution implementation.
