Constitution can’t be amended for abstract demands: Oli

POKHARA: CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that the Constitution could not be amended for abstract demands. He was speaking with journalists at the Pokhara Airport on Friday.

According to him, the Constitution could be amended only for the betterment of country and people.

“We are in the transition period, the main task of the incumbent government is to implement the Constitution and to end the transition,” he said.

Oli further said that the Constitution should be amended if a problem arose while implementing the Constitution to formulate election-related laws.

Opining that registering the Constitution amendment bill in the Parliament unilaterlly would not resolve the existing political problems, Oli pointed out the need for all the political parties to stand together.
