Constitution can't be saved without Madhesis' support: Paudel
CHITWAN: Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel said the Constitution could not be promulgated if the Madhesi parties did not provide support to it.
Inaugurating the a Tarai-centric campaign of the party from Khairahani of Chitwan today, Paudel said the Constitution implementation would be possible only after the Madhes region came close to the centre.
The veteran leader was of the view that the local bodies' elections could not be held unless the Madhesi parties accepted the Constitution.
Therefore, the party held a positive view about the region, claimed Paudel, adding the state restructuring should be held on the basis of existing ilakas to address concerns of people in the region.
Speaking in a different context, Paudel said the main opposition CPN-UML did not cooperate with the government to implement the charter.
