Cop held for keeping arms

Biratnagar, August 19:

Police head constable Dhak Bahadur Rai was arrested today for possessing illegal weapons and explosives.

A homemade pistol, 13 rounds of bullets, a detonator and explosives were seized from Rai’s house, who is stationed at the Bakhari Police Post of Biratnagar-16, the Rani Area Police Office (APO) said.

“Rai will be prosecuted as per the Weapons and Ammunition Act,” police inspector Keshav Thebe said. Rai, a permanent resident of Okhaldhunga, has been suspended under the Police Act, the police said. Locals complained to the police that Rai was threatening them by flaunting arms.

Meanwhile, the Rani APO, on the charge of trafficking drugs, held five youths — Yadav Kumar Sahani, Naresh Mahato, Bhola Kumar Das, Puneet Paswan and Bishal Khadka — today. Drugs like avil, phensedyl and TD jesick injections were seized from them, the police said, adding, action against the men has been initiated as per the Drug Peddling Act.
