Couple held for killing daughter-in-law
Rajbiraj, August 7
Police have arrested a man and his wife on the charge of murdering their daughter-in-law from Agnisair Krishnasabaran Rural Municiplaity-3, Saptari.
The arrested have been identified as Mahendra Yadav and Liladevi. They were held for killing their daughter-in-law Ranju Yadav yesterday.
The arrested were remanded to custody on the basis of a case filed by the deceased’s elder brother Ramsebak Yadav. Police have launched investigation into the incident, said DSP Bhabesh Rimal.
A preliminary police investigation showed that Ranju had died mysteriously on July 21. After Ranju and her husband Dinesh separated from their parents, they had been living in a rented room in the same village. Ranju was alone the day incident happened. “Ranju died after her in-laws thrashed her when Dinesh had gone to the market,” said DSP Rimal.
To cover up the incident, the in-laws had rushed Ranju’s body to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital, saying that she had collapsed all of a sudden. Doctors, however, had declared her dead on arrival. Bruises, and cuts on Ranju’s body and the nature of the incident showed that Ranju was killed, according to DSP Rimal.
