3007 infections surface Thursday

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 05

Nepal reported 3,007 fresh Covid cases on Thursday, while 931 people were detected to have been infected through antigen test, adding up to a total of 3,938 single day infections.

Following this, the coronavirus caseload has reached 708,079, as per the Ministry of Health and Population's records.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 663,663 with 2,012 discharges logged today.

On the other hand, the countrywide Covid-19 mortality toll increased to 9,994 with 37 more fatalities.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry,18,408 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 11,870 were PCR tests while 6,538 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 3,656,342 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 93.7 %, while the fatality rate stands at 1.5%. The country's active Covid-19 case count currently is 34,422 as opposed to 33,464 on Wednesday.

As many as 766 infections surfaced in the capital today while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur recorded 163 and 146 respectively.

So far, a total of 6,490,177 people have received coronavirus vaccine across the country, of which 4,359,277 have received the first dose while only 2,130,900 individuals have been inoculated with both the doses and are fully vaccinated.

Currently, there are 375 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Wednesday, Nepal's coronavirus case count had reached 705,072 with 2,975 more people testing positive for the infection.

Globally, over 200 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 4.2 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 180 million people have recovered while more than 15 million cases are still active.
