CPN-M plans to protest murder of cadres

Kathmandu, June 15:

A two-day meeting of the CPN-Maoist concluded here today, with a decision to launch a peaceful movement against the ongoing violence and killing of Maoist cadres in the Tarai.

The meeting chaired by party chairman Prachanda concluded that “foreign power centres” and police administration were involved in the serial killing of cadres of the Young Communist League (YCL), especially in the Tarai region.

“We will launch a peaceful movement against the killing of our cadres from the government, parliament and the streets. Our movement will be concentrated in the Tarai, where a large number of YCL cadres have been murdered,” Maoist leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai said at the end of the meeting. “We will soon come up with a schedule of our protest programmes,” he said.

“Reactionary elements are behind the organised and serial killings, which have been going on in the Tarai after the Gaur massacre,” he said. The meeting was called to look into the serial killing of Maoist cadres.
