UML to pick PA PP leader on February 11

Pokhara, February 5

The CPN-UML is set to select its parliamentary party leaders for Province 4 on February 11.

“We’ll initiate the selection process of the parliamentary party leader by holding a meeting on that day (February 11),” said party lawmaker Kiran Gurung.

The party has formed a three-member election committee for the purpose. Led by the party’s Election Committee Chairperson Somnath Adhikari ‘Pyasi’, the committee has Surendra Thapamagar and Kamal Aryal as members.

As per party sources, the party will strive to pick its leader unanimously and, failing that, it will resort to an election. The person who is selected as the party parliamentary leader will also land the chief minister’s post.

UML’s Secretary Prithvi Subba Gurung and party standing committee member Kiran Gurung are the main contenders for the chief ministerial berth. Both of them are laying their claim on the post.
