CPN-UML politburo meet begins

KATHMANDU: The second politburo meeting of the ruling CPN-UML began today under the chairmanship of party chairman Jhala Nath Khanal. Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal was also present during the meeting.

According to UML secretary Yuvaraj Gyawali, general secretary Ishwor Pokharel would present a report on current political situation in the meeting, in which the UML leaders are also scheduled to discuss the party regulations and amendment of the party statute.

Gyawali said that the politburo meeting would also dwell on the issues of restructuring of the state as well as the forms of governance to be incorporated in the new constitution. The party is yet to make it stance clear vis-à-vis these two crucial issues. The meeting will also spare some time to discuss the regulations of the Youth Force — the party's youth wing. The intra-party rift due to formation of parallel district-level bodies will also be discussed.
