UML politburo member Shrestha nominated for speaker of Province 3

HETAUDA: The left alliance has nominated CPN-UML’s Sanu Kumar Shrestha for the position of provincial speaker in Province 3.

CPN Maoist Centre lawmaker from Dhading, Shalikram Jamar Kattel proposed the name of UML politburo member Shrestha for the position of speaker while UML leader Rameshwar Phunyal supported the proposal.

With the filing of nomination, Shrestha is likely to be elected the provincial speaker of Province 3 unanimously.

The nomination closed at 1:30 pm while the election is scheduled to take place at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat hall in Hetauda, at 3:00 pm today.

The election will pave way for the appointment of other ministers in the state. Former Chairman of the then Kathmandu District Development Committee, Shrestha had expressed his interest to become the Chief Minister. However, he is poised to lead the provincial government as Dor Mani Poudel has been elected the parliamentary party leader of the province.
