Crime kingpin Sahani held
Birgunj, May 31:
Patna police arrested Indian criminal Chhote Lal Sahani, who has been held responsible for a number of criminal activities along the Nepal-India border area, from the Patna Rail Station yesterday.
The Chhote Lal gang was responsible for the recent attacks on industrialists of Birgunj, Ratan Lal Agrawal and Ramesh Kedia. The gang was also involved in extortion and collection of ransom from the businessmen of Birgunj.
While industrialist Agrawal was attacked on May 12, Kedia was attacked on March 31.
Chhote Lal was held a day after the arrest of another member of the Sahani gang, Hit Lal Sahani, from Ghodasahan, Bihar. An official of the Bihar police said Chhote Lal was arrested following a tip-off by one of his gang members.
“Nepal police has requested the Patna police to bring the arrested Sahani duo in Motihari for carrying out a joint investigation,” SSP of the Narayani Zonal Police Office, Manoj Kumar Shah, said.
“The involvement of Chhote Lal gang in criminal activities that occurred in Birgunj will be confirmed after further investigation.”
