Curfew imposed for third consecutive day in Surkhet

SURKHET: The District Administration Office, Surkhet enforced curfew for the third consecutive day on Wednesday.

The curfew will be in effect from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. The Office imposed the curfew with the possibility of demonstrations turning violent, said Chief District Officer, Baldev Gautam.

The Surkhet folks have been launching the agitation at the district headquarters, Birendranagar for the past three days demanding undivided Mid-West Region while delineating the federal provinces.

Though the Office has enforced the curfew, the protesters have been demonstrating peacefully from early morning.

Markets, educational institutions, government offices and transport services have remained closed due to the agitation.

Three persons were killed at Birendranagar on Monday after police opened fire at them in course of the demonstration.
