Curfew in Bhairahawa as protesters clash with anti-bandh crowd

BHAIRAHAWA: As tensions continued to run high in Bhairahawa of Rupandehi district, the District Administration Office (DAO) clamped curfew in the district headquarters from 8 pm on Thursday.

The curfew will be imposed till 5 pm on Friday, according to the DAO.

The United Democratic Madhesi Front and the Tharuhat Struggle Committee have been enforcing bandhs and staging protests differently in the town.

Protesters have been engaged in clashes with anti-bandh local activists frequently, intensifying the tensions.

Chief of the District Police Office (DPO) SP Rajendra Dhakal said a meeting of the District Security Committee held this evening decided to clamp the curfew.
