Dacoits decamp with property worth Rs 1m

Mahottari, June 1:

An armed group of dacoits looted properties worth one million rupees from six households at Majhaura Birunpur VDC-1 last night.

According to the district police office Mahottari, the armed looters fired five rounds of blank shots before taking the entire tole under control.

They decamped with Rs 2.93 lakh, 29 tolas of gold ornaments, 635 tolas of silver ornaments, clothing from Rahim Tain, Salim Raen, Mukim Raen, Bilas Raen, Mustakim Raen and Birendra Lal Karna of ward number 10.

Birendra Lal Karna was injured in retaliation with the dacoits, police said. He has been admitted to a local health post. Five dacoits were hurt in a clash that occurred between armed dacoits and locals at Dostiya of Santapur village development committee last night.

Locals with domestic weapons attacked some 20 dacoits who arrived with weapons at 11 pm.

Two pistols and two bullets were seized from the dacoits, inspector at Garuda Area Police Post, Man Bahadur Chaudhari said.
