Dahal and Nepal on receiving end of PM Oli's satire
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Saturday, amid a meeting of active cadres of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) in Kathmandu, has satirically condemned Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal for their "attempts of removing him from his position", following House dissolution.
Addressing the meeting, Oli took the opportunity to lash out on former prime ministers Dahal and Nepal, who lead the other splinter group of NCP, while labelling them as 'rotten fruits' which fell off.
In the same manner, the contentious Prime Minister, also stated that NCP has begun to function properly after two corroded nut-bolts loosened and fell apart, referring to senior leader Nepal and party co-chair Dahal.
"I have come to learn that they have filed an application claiming their faction to be legitimate, which came to my knowledge after the Election Commission presented a letter to me for the same yesterday," stated the PM. He mocked the two leaders saying a party is not some sweet to be determined as authentic or fake.
"Is it necessary for the house owner to file an application to claim their house? We have made this party. We do not require to seek approval. Two rotten fruits, which fell from the tree, are now claiming the ownership of the entire tree," he questioned metaphorically.
PM Oli did not stop there. He went on to ridicule the other faction hitting the streets to protest dissolution of the House of Representatives.
Claiming that NCP's faction under his leadership is legitimate, Oli said they have not relieved any party leaders -- including co-chair Dahal and senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal -- of their respective posts.
Similarly, Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokhrel accused party leaders Dahal and Nepal of being responsible for the division in the ruling NCP. “The party reached the point of splitting up after they manoeuvred to remove KP Sharma Oli from the post of Prime Minister and party chair,” DPM Pokhrel, who is an NCP leader close to PM Oli, had said during the meet.
