Dahal bats for directly elected chief executive in Nepal
BUTWAL: CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has backed for directly elected chief executive to end political instability in the Nation.
Speaking at a press meet organised in Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City on Wednesday, Dahal said that the West Ministerial System practiced in Nepal has failed and brought more political instability and political dead lock and frequent changes in the government.
As a result, it has infuriated people in the country, Dahal added.
Former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal further said that the directly elected chief executive would get five years tenure which would ensure him/her to implement all developmental goals and efforts.
"It's high time that we all need to think that Himal, Pahad and Madhesh are interlinked so as to achieve national prosperity," Dahal added.
Speaking on a different note, Dahal said that the current election procedure is very expensive, poor cannot afford to field himself in the elections, hundreds of rupees have to be spent to win the election.
He also said that the current form of mixed election procedure should be changed into full representational system to discourage such practice.
Dahal urged we all should raise our voice to dethrone the existing practice.
Former PM Dahal also said that the provincial and parliamentary elections can be held in single shot by making the same ballot paper and ballot box of the central and provincial for proportional representatives.
There is no any constitutional hassle in organising the upcoming Parliamentary and Provincial election in single phase, Dahal clarified.
Dahal also expressed optimism that the agitating Rastriya Janata Partry Nepal would take part in the third phase of local polls in province number 2 slated for September 2.
It would be suicidal if RJP-N boycotts the elections, Dahal lamented.
He also said that the government is preparing to table the Constitution amendment bill in the house to appease RJP-N.
As per the constitutional requirement all the levels of elections have to completed by January 21 for the full implementation of federalism and constitution in the country.
