Dang bandh for Hindu state

PYUTHAN: Life was hit hard on Thursday across Dang district due to a district shutdown called by various religious and ethnic groups. Various organisations and groups including Hindu Jagaran Nepal, Swodharma Study Society and Kshetri Society had enforced Dang district bandh demanding removal of secularism and reinstatement of Hindu state in the statute. Vehicles, educational institutions and market places remained closed due to the general strike. Police escorted stranded vehicles on the East-West Highway. Meanwhile, educational institutions that remained shut from last Friday are yet to resume classes.

Property gutted

KATHMANDU: Property worth around Rs 327,000 was destroyed in a fire that broke out at a grocery store in Budhanilkantha on Thursday. The shop was owned by Chandra Bahadur Karki, 22, of the same locality. The reason behind the blaze was electric short circuit, said police.Locals, police personnel and a fire engine doused the fire.
