Day meal to be given to 3,800 children

Byas Municipality has decided to manage day meals for students of community schools in the municipal areas of Tanahun district.

The municipality will provide day meal to 3,800 students of community schools from Grade I to V just after the Dashain festival. The municipality informed that each student would get Rs 15 for the same.

Education Department Chief at the municipality Nagendra Prasad Regmi said over Rs 8 million would be spent this year for the programme. According to the municipality office, the meal will be managed to make students regular, solve problems of class merger and motivate children towards learning.

Officer at Department of Education Radha Acharya said the municipality decided to provide day meal after the demand for the same reached the municipality office.

“The day meal will be managed soon,” she informed. “The day meal will be provided to children as almost all the students come to school on empty stomach,” she added.  She said the children from poor families attended the school on empty stomach.

Earlier, Myagde Municipality in the district had managed day meal for students from grade I to V.
