DDC, NT offices padlocked

Taplejung, May 10:

Cadres of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Rastriya Janashakti Party and Rastriya Janamukti Party today padlocked offices of Taplejung DDC and the Nepal Telecom Taplejung office on the allegation that these offices are working under the influence of the CPN (Maoist).

The offices were padlocked while a seminar on preparation of Taplejung DDC’s three year periodic interim planning was going on. Participants of the seminar returned after finding the meeting hall padlocked.

A cadre of Rastriya Janamukti Party said they sent LDO, Khadga Bahadur Chapagai, out of his office before locking the DDC office. A DDC official said the Maoists were pressing not to invite any representative of these three parties to any programme organised by the DDC. He also admitted that they were forced to do illegal work.

The leaders of the three parties, in a press conference today, said they were not invited to the DDC’s periodic interim planning seminar and alleged that the NC, UML, CPN-Maoist, Janamorcha Nepal and NC-D were trying to exercise monopoly.
