Sankhuwasabha, July 19:

Members of the Khandbari Youth Club took away furniture and computers from the office of Sankhuwasabha District Development Committee (DDC) yesterday.

According to journalist Rajdhan Rai, Sujan Bajracharya of KYC threatened journalists from the office of Local Development Officer, Sher Bahadur Dhungana, saying they would take journalists around the bazaar by tarring their faces if news regarding the incident was published.

Sankhuwasabha Chief District Officer Mukunda Adhikari promised to take action against the one who threatened journalists. Adhikari said the administration would guarantee security of journalists and initiate a probe into the incident tomorrow.

An all-party meeting had decided to provide furniture to Khandbari-based Arun Club. KYC youths got angry after Arun Club took furniture from the DDC, a source said. A group of irate youths took away furniture and computer, the source added.

A DDC staffer said a group decamped with DDC office property after holding talks with LDO Dhungana. Preparations are on to return the items to the DDC office.
