Since June 10, the death toll from rain-induced disasters has reached 175, according to the police.
Landslides and floods across various parts of the country claimed lives, with the Kathmandu Valley itself witnessing the deaths of three people during this period.
Koshi Province recorded 27 fatalities, Madhes Province eight, Bagmati Province 31, Gandaki Province 54, Lumbini Province 33, Karnali Province eight, and Sudurpaschim Province 11, bringing the total to 175, as reported by the Central Spokesperson of Nepal Police, DIG Dan Bahadur Karki.
Additionally, 224 people have been injured in these landslides and floods. Among the injured, 11 were from the Kathmandu Valley, 37 from Koshi Province, 11 from Madhes Province, 23 from Bagmati Province, 46 from Gandaki Province, 13 from Lumbini Province, 55 from Karnali Province, and 28 from Sudurpaschim Province.
The police also rescued 113 people from the disaster, including 28 in the Kathmandu Valley alone.
DIG Karki further informed that 49 people are still missing as a result of the floods and landslides. Bagmati Province accounts for the highest number of missing persons at 41, while Lumbini Province has the fewest with just one person missing.
The rain-induced disasters have also claimed the lives of 820 cattle.
Since June 10, the floods and landslides have destroyed 286 houses, 105 cowsheds, 49 bridges, two schools, and two government office buildings.
In the past two months, 4,472 households have been displaced by the disasters.
