Detention of campus chief's torturers extended

RAJBIRAJ: Detention of three students, who were arrested on the charge of thrashing chief of the Mahendra Bindeshwori Multiple Campus Devidutta Shah and lecturer Nageshwor Prasad Yadav yesterday, has been extended by three days.

The District Police Office extended their detention following an order from the District Court, Saptari. According to police inspector Ramkrishna Sapkota, legal proceedings have been initiated against the trio on the charge of abduction. The trio -- FSU president Ram Chandra Yadav, Secretary Jayaprakash Yadav and member Santosh Kumar Yadav - were arrested this morning.

Meanwhile, demanding action against the culprits, students of the campus staged demonstrations in Rajbiraj. The students also vandalised two vehicles. In a corner meet organised at Jana Aandolan Chowk, the students also demanded resumption of regular classes in the campus.

According to the Shah, the FSU members had taken him under their control for four hours and thrashed him severely, accusing him of not fulfilling their demands.
