Deuba decries ethnic states
HETAUDA: Senior Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba said on Tuesday that the country would be plunged into conflict if the states are divided on the basis of ethnicity.
Speaking at a press conference organised by the Nepal Press Union, Makawanpur the former PM said that the present government would continue till the promulgation of the new constitution. He also informed that the present government would be changed as per the constitutional procedure.
He highlighted the needs of a democratic constitution with the parliamentary norms and values. However, Deuba said that the new statue would be drafted only after the integration of the PLA fighters. He reasoned that the new constitution could not function adequately in the shadow of the UCPN-Maoist arms.
