Deuba threatens stir, wants Maoist to change ways
Lamjung, January 3:
Senior leader of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba has warned of agitation if the CPN-Maoist did not address the nine-point understanding reached with the NC within three months.
Speaking at the sixth convention of the Lamjung unit of Nepal Teachers’ Association in Beshisahar today, Deuba said, “Maoist cadres are still seeking donation and resorting to killings, violence and robberies. Since the Maoists are in competitive politics after signing the 12-point understanding and abandoning the armed struggle, they must be honest.”
Blaming Maoists’ youth wing Young Communist League and CPN-UML’s Youth Force for the deteriorating law and order in the country, he warned that his party would also be forced to form a combat group.
He claimed that the Maoists never let the NC perform well when it was at the helm of the government.
Recalling that he was inspired to join the Nepali Congress by teachers, the senior NC leader urged them to help in the formation of a democratic and prosperous Nepal.
