Deuba yearns for end of monarchy

Kathmandu, July 23 :

Nepali Congress (Democratic) President Sher Bahadur Deuba today said that there will not be any compromise with anyone when it comes to arrive at the political system of the future.

He said a constituent assembly will decide on the political system of the future, and scrapping of the monarchy would be the best thing thing to happen. He added that he would be “be the happiest person in the country if the people threw away the monarchy”.

Deuba was addressing students associated with Lalitpur district cell of the Nepal Students Union (NSU), the student wing of the NC (D).However, he hastened on to add that the party will soon initiate a discussion on what should be its agenda for a constituent assembly elections.

But NC (D) Vice President Prakash Man Singh said the future agenda is none other than a democratic republican order.
