‘Development budget being misused’

Pokhara, July 17

Stakeholders today urged lawmakers to allocate budget for Constituency Infrastructure Development Plans selected by the district council on the basis of priority and in a transparent manner in Kaski.

Speaking at an interaction organised by the Federation of Good Governance Nepal on Constituency Infrastructure Development in Kaski, Sunsari and Sindhupalchowk districts, almost all participants complained that the budget was not being properly utilised.

They charged that political leaders were abusing the fund for the vested interest of party activists. Representatives of civil society said development projects were selected on the basis of political influence.

They also charged the leaders of giving less priority to participatory approach while selecting projects. “The leaders give priority to those projects which are less valuable,” accused the stakeholders.
