Development programmes of Besisahar Municipality disclosed
LAMJUNG: Besisahar Municipality of Lamjung district has disclosed the development programmes and other progression approved by the municipal assembly meeting held recently.
Besisahar Municipality Mayor Guman Singh Aryal revealed the development programmes in a press conference organised here today.
According to Mayor Aryal, of the total budget of Rs 291,304,589 allocated in the fiscal year 2017/18 by mid-January for local level development, Rs 101,415,135 has been approved.
The municipality has already approved economic procedure, education policy, cooperative acts, the mode of operation and management of FM radio station, local level's planning and budget rendition overview, municipal assembly set up and management including other procedures.
Further, the second municipal assembly has decided to form a route alternative to the secondary highway route to Chame, the district headquarters of Manang via Dumre-Besisahar. The assembly is seeking alternative routes as the expansion of the road by 15 metres on either side of the highway would require demolition of more than 500 houses that could cause an estimated loss of Rs 20 billion.
Similarly, the assembly has decided to install power generator machines in 16 primary and secondary schools in the municipality with 80 per cent financial assistance from the municipality; the remaining amount would be invested by schools.
The municipal assembly has also decided to bring the constructed houses under taxation, those that have not yet acquired certificates of construction. It has been arranged to distribute certificates to the houses after they pay certain fines charged by the committees that have already been formed, Mayor Aryal informed.
Of the total 619 proposals, the assembly has reached agreement on 222 while 71 schemes have been executed, the municipality Mayor said.
