‘Development will pick up pace’

Kaski, December 11

Nepal Communist Party Co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said development work would soon pick up pace.

Speaking at a press meet organised at Sikles of Madi Rural Municipality this morning, Dahal admitted the incumbent government had failed to perform as expected in the last one year. “It is difficult to carry out development works, including road construction,” Dahal stated. He, however, said the government was committed to expediting development works.

Dahal said there was no alternative to the incumbent government. He added that the government had made good start on gold smuggling case, transport syndicate and contractors. He, however, admitted that it had failed to take those issues to a logical end. “The government is serious about concluding issues of gold smuggling, syndicate and contractors,” he asserted.

Dahal said the government would increase allowance for the elderly in the next budget. “The government will increase allowance for elderly people and compensate them for this year as well,” he claimed. “Allowance would be increased as we had promised in the polls,” Dahal said. Noting that the peace process was near conclusion, Dahal said some works related to disappeared persons and truth reconciliation were left.
