Dhading landslide victims get relief

DHADING: Landslide victims in Dhading’s remote Khaniyabas and Netrawati Rural Municipality were provided relief today.

With the initiatives of the District Natural Disaster Rescue Committee, a team of physicians, security personnel, Red Cross staff reached the incident site and provided relief to the deceased’s kin.

Five persons of two families had lost their lives while 15 houses were destroyed in landslides which occurred at Saiswara and Chiurikharka of Khaniyabas Rural Municipality, in the northern part of Dhading district, on Wednesday night.

Due to landslides triggered by incessant rain, the house of Raju Gole in Saiswara, Khaniyabas Rural Municipality-5 was swept away. In the incident, Gole’s wife Basodha Gurung (36), daughters Laxmi Gurung (10) and Saraswati Gurung (5) lost their lives, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police at Dhading District Police Office, Ram Bahadur KC.

Apart from immediate relief (food and clothes), a committee meeting has decided to give Rs 100,000 to the kin of the deceased and Rs 10,000 to the injured.

The victims can collect the relief amount from local level offices, Chief District Officer Bhagi Rath Pandey informed.
