Dhankuta bus crash: Death toll reaches 13
BHOJPUR: Death toll of the Dhankuta bus crash occurred earlier this afternoon has reached 13*. Around 35 persons sustained injuries.
Of the victims, nine have been identified while four are yet to be known.
Identified victims:
- Hari Raj Khewa (male), Hattikharka-5, former State Minister for Finance and CPN Maoist Centre Dhankuta Chairman
- Tara Basnet (female), Parewadin-7
- Reshma Basnet (three-year-old girl), Parewadin-7, daughter of Tara
- Atimaya Tamang (female), Parewadin-5
- Bed Prakash Agrawal (male), Dharan-2
- Sanam Tamang (male), Budhi Morang-8, bus driver
- Bir Bahadur Kaphle (male)
- Hom Paudel (male), Terhathum
- Tej Bahadur Thapa (male), Leguwa
While seven had died on the spot, others had succumbed to injuries on the spot.
Injured are undergoing treatment at the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. Eight of them are said to be critical.
Police attributed the accident to thick fog and rainfall.
