Dhanusha's Hansapur Municipality mayor among four booked for murder
Janakpurdham, Sept 5
An FIR was filed at Dhanusha District Police Office today against four persons, including Hansapur Municipality Mayor Ramgyan Mandal in a ‘murder’ case.
A clash had broken out between police and the locals while transferring document and furniture from Hansapur Municipality’s existing centre Baghchauda to Belhi, the new municipality centre, on August 6.
Fifty-seven-year-old Tapeshwor Mandal of Hansapur-6, who was injured in the clash died during treatment on Wednesday. Tapeshwor had received injures on his legs and was undergoing treatment at Janakpur Zonal Hospital.
Stating that his father was ‘murdered’, Tapeshwor’s son Raj Kumar filed an FIR against Hansapur Mayor Mandal, Hansapur Municipality Ward No 3 Chairperson Udaya Kumar Singh, an executive member of the same ward Shyam Raut and a commoner named Lalbabu Yadav of Sugamdhurkarahi, Hansapur Municipality-4.
“We’ve registered the FIR; now we’ll launch our investigation,” said Dhanusha police chief SP Shekhar Khanal.
Mayor Mandal denied his involvement in Tapeshwor’s death. “I wasn’t even at the site where the clash happened. My name has been kept in the FIR just because of political bias,” he said.
Last night, following Tapeshwor’s death, locals of Baghchauda had reached Janakpur Zonal Hospital and demonstrated seeking action against the mayor.
