Dharan traders protest abduction

Dharan, September 21:

The Dharan Chambers of Commerce and Industries, closed down Dharan bazaar today to protest the abduction of its chairperson, Pawan Kumar Agrawal.

A gang abducted Agrawal from his house at Purano bazaar this morning and took him away on a motorbike. Agrawal was freed at Kalyanchowk after one-and-a-half hours, said police.

A meeting of the association has demanded stern action against the culprits and also urged the administration. Police have arrested Yubaraj Gurung, 30, of Dharan-11 and Shrawan Kumar Limbu, 27, of Dharan-7, said inspector Bhim Prasad Dahal.

Agrawal said he was abducted to pressurise him to include gaming items of gambling in the fair that is to be held in Dharan on the occasion of Dashain.
