Dhurmus Suntali Foundation hands over quake-resistant settlement to Bardibas Musahars

BARDIBAS: The third model earthquake-resistant integrated settlement constructed by the Dhurmus Suntali Foundation in Bardibas of Mahottari district has been handed over to the community on Friday.

Senior comedian duo Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya jointly handed over the keys of the houses to the Musahar Settlement Management Committee Chairman Biltu Sada Musahar amid a function today.

On the occasion, Shrestha and Acharya lauded the effort of the Foundation established by Sitaram Kattel (Dhurmus) and Kunjana Ghimire (Suntali) saying it had become a good example as already three model settlements had been constructed with its efforts.

On the occasion Chief Secretary Som Lal Subedi expressed his commitment to cooperate with the Foundation to provide quality education, health and other services to the community.

Similarly Vice-Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology Jiba Raj Pokharel said that the programmes to improve economic status of the Musahar community would be operated soon.

The settlement was made at a cost of Rs 50.4 million in the past three months. The child- and disabled-friendly settlement included as many as 50 houses, a community building, public toilets, blacktopped road, a children's park, a garden and a temple.
