KHOTANG: Chairman of Manmaya Rai Khanidanda Airport Users' Committee, Durga Ghimire, on Saturday demanded that the headquarters of the proposed Kirat State be established in Diktel.

Addressing a press meet organised in Diktel, Ghimire claimed that Gaighat in Udayapur, headquarters of the state proposed by the State Restructuring Committee, was not accessible to the people of Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha, Udayapur, Okhaldhunga, Solukhumbu and Khotang districts.

He added that various places of religious importance and natural beauty such as Halesi, Siddeshwor Cave, Tamke, Salyme, Barahapokhari in the district had increased the value of the place. He said the district is connected with other parts of the country via air services and has enough potential of urbanisation. It would be unjust if the government did not establish the headquarters of the Kirat State in Diktel, he argued. — HNS
