Disabled students awarded scholarship

Kirant Rai Yayokkha, Khotang, has awarded Jeevan Youwan Seralung scholarship to a differently abed student Samjhana Rai at a programme organised in Khotehang Rural Municipality, Khotang, today.

The seventeen-year-old girl was born without hands. A local at Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality Prashna Raj Rai had established the scholarship fund. Prashna Raj said the scholarship was awarded to Samjhana who did not have hands but still worked hard. He said she wrote using her feet.

Samjhana is a12th grader at Bhagawati Dinanath Secondary School, Khotang Bazar. She is known as the second Jhamak Kumari in her locality. Similarly, a needy student DiwasRai of the same rural municipality was also awarded the same scholarship today.

Diwas is the ninth grader of Bhanu Foundation School. Prashna Raj awarded the amount of Rs 5,000 along with education materials to Samjhana and Diwas. Prashna Raj had established the fund with one lakh rupees some two years ago in the memory of his two sons.

Meanwhile, Kirant Rai Yayokkha Khotang chair Anjana Rai said the scholarship was awarded to poor, intelligent and needy students every year.
