Discipline issues affecting party: NC Prez Deuba

POKHARA: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba claimed that growing discipline issues have made the party weaker.

Inaugurating Kaski District Convention in Pokhara on Thursday, President Deuba underlined the need of maintaining discipline to make the party stronger while stressing on need for action against 'betrayers' during elections held last year.

Noting that the NC has been in long and persisting struggle for the establishment of democracy, he said the NC should be strong for safeguarding the same.

"It is imperative for the party to reach out to people. Anticipated goals can be attained only when the party is strong at people's level," President Deuba said.

On the same occasion, senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel accused the incumbent government of ruling the country by intimidating the constitutional bodies including Supreme Court and Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

He also underscored that NC should be strong to strengthen and sustain democracy. "Problems have emerged in the party in absence of justice, impartiality and transparency in the leadership which is constraining the party from internal unity," added Poudel.
