District Attorney arrested with bribe money

Bhairahawa, November 20

A team form the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority has taken the district attorney under control with bribe money from his office in Rupandehi today.

The CIAA team deployed from Kathmandu caught Kosh Hari Niraula red-handed while taking Rs 80,000 bribe money from a service seeker at his office today. The bribe cash, mobile set, staff identity card, among others, have been seized from Niraula and he has been taken to Kathmandu for the further action.

According to the CIAA team, the service seeker had filed a case related to exchange of Rs three lakh Indian currency in District Police Office some days ago. Police had taken the case to the district attorney to present it in the district court. But Niraula had demanded bribe money from the service seeker for presenting the case directly at the district court.

Niraula had refused to sign the document for his protection.  He, however, signed the document voluntarily after staffers from the anti-graft body warned they would make another document if he refused to sign the original one.

When Niraula repeatedly told he had not received the bribe money, the CIAA team had examined the bribe money and his hands. “The CIAA team asked Niraula to wash his hands with water. When he washed his hands, water turned light blue and red in colour,” said DSP Kumud Dhungel.

In fact, the water turned light blue and red as Niraula had counted the bank notes. After that, Niraula became speechless.

CIAA Spokesperson Rameswor Dangal said that Niraula was being brought to Kathmandu after his arrest with the bribe money.
