District health workers undertake viral fever treatment in Bajura

BAJURA: Health professionals dispatched to a remote viral affected region in Bajura district, have started health check-up and treatment. District Health Officer of Bajura, Dr Roopchandra Bishwakarma informed that a team of health workers from District Health Office (DHO) including a doctor has begun the treatment.

The health workers’ team was dispatched to the area after finding out an increase in viral epidemic in Swamikartik Rural Municipality-5, according to Public Health Officer Ramesh Kunwar. He informed that the team under the leadership of Dr Bijay Kumar Sah has started the treatment in Migu and Jera areas. He added that the treatment has been provided to more than 150 people in the highly affected areas.

The situation had not come under control although a team previously dispatched under the leadership of Senior Auxiliary Health Worker had undertaken the task in the area.

Meanwhile, the health workers have stated that unsafe drinking water and lack of sunlight during the winter could be the reasons behind the viral outbreak. According to a ward member, Singha Bahadur Mahatara, people had been falling sick for two weeks. The situation has somewhat come under control after the health professionals’ team started the treatment. The DHO has informed that in order to prevent the viral outbreak and for additional treatment, provisions of health workers and medicines have been made in Migu.

In Migu and Jera areas of the rural municipality, elderly people and children have mostly been affected by the viral fever, according to Mahatara. Headache, fever, chest pain, coughing, nausea are the common symptoms visible, he said.

It has been learnt that the health posts have prepared high level of awareness to prevent the outbreak from spreading into other areas.

Viral fever has also been detected in the neighbouring district of Mugu. Locals have reported that the outbreak might have communicated from Khatyad in Mugu district.
