Docs from BPKIHS examine Dr KC

Panchthar, January 16

Further complications have been reported in the health of Dr Govinda KC, who has been staging fast-unto-death for the past seven days seeking reform in the health sector.

After the problems of pneumonia and other infections worsened, doctors from the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health and Sciences today examined the health of the agitating doctor who had been admitted to Ilam Hospital the day before yesterday for his failing health.

A team of doctors led by Dr Bikas Sah from the Dharan-based BPKIHS arrived here to learn about Dr KC’s health. The team has yet to make public its report of the check-up though.

Dr KC has been administered antibiotics.“After his condition got worse, we, seeking his consent, have given him antibiotic drip,” said Ilam Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Bijendra Kumar Sah. Though doctors have advised to keep Dr KC in ICU or CCU, considering his deteriorating health, the agitating doctor has refused to cooperate.

Similarly, Bijaya Thapa, a youth who is also on a hunger strike against Dr KC and his agitation, was also admitted here at the same hospital today following problems with his health. He has been on strike since January 11 demanding that the medical bill passed by the Parliament’s education and health committee be endorsed without any change.
