Dolpa, February 16

All five health facilities in Tripurasundari Municipality of Dolpa are facing chronic shortage of medicines for the last several months.

Trirpurakot, Pahada, Liku, Sun and Lhyan health centres are grappling with shortage of medicines like paracetamol.

In the third week of September last year, Dolpa District Hospital supplied medicines worth Rs 150,000 to these health centres but they lasted only till November, said officiating chief at Tripurakot Health Centre Sirjana Rokaya.

After the formation of the local level, all health centres came under its management but it ignored the problem, which is directly associated with people’s health, she said and added that patients came to the centre from distant places, but returned empty-handed.

Pahada Health Post chief Krishna Karki said, “Other four health centres are facing the same problem.”

Town executive committee meet on December 16 had agreed to purchase medicines and equipment worth Rs 1.5 million. But local representatives are not serious about the issue, according to the executive officer of the municipality.
