KATHMANDU, MAY 2

The Government of Nepal has decided to suspend operations domestic flights in a bid to contain the raging rate at which the Covid-19 pandemic is spreading in the country.

Likewise, international flights to and from a few severely Covid-hit countries including India will also be suspended.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held today decided to halt operation of flights commencing Monday midnight, till an indefinite period.

Nepal's Civil Aviation Authority had already directed various airway companies with schedule passes to cut down the number of flights by 50 per cent.
