Drive to push poultry products

Calling on the local people to eat Nepali poultry products, the Lahan municipality office will organise a campaign tomorrow. “A meeting between the officials of the Lahan municipality office and poultry entrepreneurs, which was held here today, decided to launch the campaign tomorrow.

The campaign will try to drive the point home that Nepali poultry products are safe for consumption” said Murari Nepali, acting officer of the Lahan municipality. The municipality

office is initiating the campaign to revive the demand for Nepali poultry products.

Yesterday, some concerned authorities, taking into account the bird flu outbreak in India, had asked the locals not to eat poultry products. The call hit the poultry business hard, poultry entrepreneurs said.

Chandra Bahadur Gurung of the Bisanpur-based Purvanchal Poultry Farm said: “If the isconception about bird flu is not cleared, the poultry business will die down forever.

The poultry business was hit hard because of the announcement made yesterday.”

According to the Siraha District Veterinary Office, there is a stock of 25,000 chickens and 13,000 ducks in 105 poultry farms of the district.
