BIRATNAGAR: A driver assistant was killed after he was run over by the same bus he was travelling in, in Saptari district this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Deepak Karki, the assistant driver of the bus (Na 5 Kha 4925), according to the Eastern Regional Police Office, Biratnagar.

The accident took place when the bus driver drove off the bus while Karki was sleeping under the bus. The bus had stationed for being escorted by police.

Police have arrested the bus driver and impounded the vehicle for investigation.
